I was a day surg patient on ward 14, Great team organised, friendly and caring with good sense of humour and can’t think of anything they could have done better.
The worst experience with my pregnancy.
My waters were broken and when baby was born he has a chunk cut out of his head which is raw - 4 people at this hospital stated different things as to what it was, to which we now know it was due to waters being broke to aggressively.
Student community midwife twice messed up taking bloods of baby and thr main midwife on first visit stated a jaundice test was needed but yet the second midwife stated no way is he yellow so why was this taken...twice due to students mess up with taking it.
Roll on 4 days after baby, community midwife stated I needed to go in. I got confirmation I would have a room as i will be taking baby in with me, i arrived to the parking machine taking my money twice and now not having a room ready. My 5 day old baby sat in a car seat for hours and I couldn't breast feed him either.
Really appalling service from everyone maternity related, no communication and having to literally fight for my son to have basic care.
Midwives are rude and inconsiderate rush human beings around like cattle then are obsessed with thinking new mothers are incapable undermining their confidence when the truth is they are protecting themselves from criticism to the point where they let the mothers down What “duty of care “causes mothers anxiety when they are most vulnerable ?
Will never step in this hospital again!
I went into hospital on the 28th of July with chest pains and pains down my left leg and arm. I was on Ward 44 late that evening and on the 29th of July. Got sent home not before having my dinner first !! Staff were absolutely brilliant. They have an extremely hard job and some of the patients were very nasty to some of the nurses. The nurses were very kind and friendly and chatty and made me feel very comfortable. I was put in a bed next to a gentleman called Leslie. In the short time I was there I felt there was a bit of a connection and he is an absolutely lovely gentleman. Anyway just wanna say thank you to the nurses on that ward. I was in room three .. thank you to everybody
If you value the lives of your loved ones never let them enter this place. My dad went for day surgery for removal of gallbladder and errors made by the surgeon led him to spend months in intensive care with a Tracheostomy so he could never eat, drink or speak to us, loads of infections, shocking care and eventually leaving in a coffin. No one has ever answered for what they done and they never cared the whole family witnessing so many errors and zero infection control or proper care
I thought all the Staff on CCU at Darlington Hospital were excellent .Prompt investigations ,clear explanations, dignity shown .
